Processing of personal data

Each time our website is accessed, our web server automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer.

The following data is collected:

- System data of the browser and operating system used by the user (if transmitted by the requesting web browser).
- The IP address of the user
- Date and time of access
- Websites from which the user's system accesses our website
- Websites that are accessed by the user's system via our website

This information is required to deliver the content of our website correctly, to optimize the content of our website and to ensure the permanent functionality of our IT systems and the technology of our website and is carried out for legitimate interests within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. DSGVO.

IP addresses are only recorded for the duration of the visit to enable delivery of the website to the user’s computer and are not stored beyond the end of the visit.

The remaining data is stored in the log files of our system. Since no IP address is stored, there is no possibility to assign the data to a specific user, the data is anonymous in this respect.

Some offers of our website (e.g. registration for events, contact forms) require the collection of personal data. Only the data that is absolutely necessary is collected and it is also only used for the stated purpose and deleted after the purpose has been fulfilled. The collected personal data will not be disclosed to third parties without your express consent and they will not be linked to the log files of the server. The legal basis for the processing of this data is the consent of the user.

The Freiburg University of Education processes personal data in some other systems linked via our website (e.g. LSF, learning platform, applicant management). You will be informed separately on these platforms about the personal data processed there and all associated data subject rights.


Our websites use cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on a computer system via a web browser. Cookies consist of a string of characters by which web pages and servers can be assigned to a specific web browser. A specific web browser can thus be recognized and identified.

The University of Education Freiburg uses so-called session cookies. These serve to make the Internet offer more user-friendly, effective and secure (for example, you do not have to log in again on every page after logging in during a session). These purposes are also our legitimate interest in data processing according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DS-GVO.
The session cookies are deleted when you end the session.

E-mail security

If you send us an e-mail, your e-mail address will only be used for correspondence with you. Please note that the data transmission of e-mails on the Internet can have security gaps. A complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
