What is the IHLA interest group on migrant health literacy?
The IHLA interest group on migrant health literacy was founded in late 2020 with the aim of advancing empirical and practical knowledge on health literacy of migrants around the world.
Migration is an important global phenomenon and has all kind of shades such as internal (forced) migration, interstate migration because of war or as a highly skilled person, permanent or temporary, etc. and brings many challenges and opportunities. Due to this complexity, it is wonderful to bring together people working on or interested in migrants HL to understand the phenomenon and its multiple facets better.
The goal of the interest group is to advance the scientific and practical knowledge on the migrant health literacy by making research visible, discussing critical issues, conducting further research (in collaboration) and informing research, policy, and practice.
We believe that the knowledge gained in our interest group is not only relevant tor migrants and refugees, but can also inspire other health literacy research and practice.
